An ice bath, also known as cold water immersion, involves sitting in very cold water (typically around 10–15°C or 50–59°F) for a short period, usually 10–15 minutes. It’s commonly used by athletes to reduce muscle soreness, inflammation, and fatigue after intense physical activity. The cold temperature constricts blood vessels, which helps flush out waste products like lactic acid, and reduces swelling. Ice baths can also aid in faster recovery, improve circulation, and enhance mental resilience.
